Use paypal to pay your citizens association dues

Nov 13th, 2009 by rebecca

The Warwick Village Citizens Association has added a paypal option to their membership page, so now you don’t have any excuse to forget to pay your dues. The website has been spiffied up as well, so go check it out if you live in the Village. And pay your dues while you’re there….

The Del Ray Citizens Association has a paypal option as well. I don’t see a paypal option on the Lynhaven Citizens Association site, but they do seem to have lots of helpful info for the community. The Rosemont Citizens Association website is down, and has been for a long time. The Rosemont listserv is very active, I’m surprised the web presence is still awol. I also know what a pain in the neck it is for neighborhood associations to plan websites by committee, so I’m not criticizing, just commenting. (Really!)

Monday, March 9th: Del Ray Citizens Association Meet and Greet

Mar 7th, 2009 by rebecca

From the Del Ray Citizens Association List:

The 8th Annual Del Ray Citizens Association “Meet-n-Greet” will be held on
Monday, March 9th, 7:00pm in the George Washington Middle School Cafeteria.

This event is a wonderful opportunity for Del Ray residents to learn more about
the City services, volunteer opportunities, and interest groups that enhance our
quality of life and make Alexandria –and Del Ray especially– such a great
place to live.

Some 200 new residents are invited to become more acquainted with multiple
aspects of their new hometown, from planning and public safety to arts and
culture. Current residents will benefit from updates on City service
enhancements and ongoing projects that impact our community.

Of particular interest to all will be the designs and/or models for a number of the
development projects in our area including:
• Potomac Yard (A big aerial map with scale models)
• 2312 Mt Vernon Ave (the Citgo site at Oxford and Mt Vernon)
• 2903 Mt Vernon Ave (Anthony’s Auto)
• The pocket park at 1 & 7 E Del Ray Ave
• Mount Vernon Commons (i.e., the Triangle site at Commonwealth & Mt Vernon)
• The Lofts at Del Ray (Raymond and Mt Vernon Ave)
• Four Mile Run Plan
• Commonwealth Avenue Landscape Improvement Project

————————————————–

City and neighborhood organizations and services represented include:

• Alexandria Convention & Visitors Association
• Alexandria Economic Development Partnership
• Alexandria Office on Women
• Animal Welfare League of Alexandria
• Bike/Walk Alexandria
• Choreographers Collaboration Project
• Citizens Assistance & Consumer Affairs
• Del Ray Artisans
• Del Ray Business Association
• Duncan Library
• Fire Department & Code Enforcement
• Gang Prevention & Intervention Liaison
• Health Services & Programs
• Human Services & Programs
• Mt. Vernon Recreation Center
• Planning and Zoning
• Police Department & Sheriff’s Office
• Real Estate Assessments
• Recreation, Parks, & Cultural Activities
• Refuse and Recycling Removal
• Transit (DASH Bus & Local Motion)
• Volunteer Alexandria!

and more …

This is a really great, low key way to get to know more about our community. I’ve learned something new and met new people every time I’ve attended.
